The focus of this delicious culinary tour is not only to experience the authentic food cooked with locals, but to give you time to relax on the beautiful beaches of the Calabrian coast and guide you to the main historic sites.
A relaxing setting
Historically rich, yet boasting a warm and lively, contemporary appeal with its family-run bars and restaurants, Tropea sits proudly on a ‘tuffo’ rock 50 meters above one of the most beautiful beaches in southern Italy. Here, you can explore medieval and prehistoric palazzos as you saunter down cobble stone streets during your free time. Tropea’s quaint cafes and bars offer an occasion to sit, relax and admire the breathtaking views of the sea below and experience the promenade, where you can see the famous landmark of Tropea – Santa Maria Del Isola.
Day One
Private transfer from Lamezia Terme airport to Tropea Settle into your accommodations Welcome dinner in Tropea with local delicacies from the province with calabrese wines included.
Day Two
After breakfast, you can enjoy a free morning in Tropea.
Tropea’s historic center has many cafes, stores and restaurants. The town has three viewing platforms, where you can sit and enjoy a wine overlooking the sea and the famous landmark of the town- the promenade, where the church ‘Santa Maria Del Isola’ is situated. You can also spend the morning at the beach below, all within walking distance.
Afternoon, we’ll head for Pizzo Calabro, a beautiful coastal town and birthplace of the gelato tartufo.We’ll take a walk through the charming city center of Pizzo and tour the Piedegrotta, a famous grotto built on the beach of Pizzo boasting life size sandstone sculptures.
We will then visit thefamous fish auction in Vibo Marina where we will meet our chef who owns a beautiful restaurant by the sea. We’ll enjoy the day’s catch and see Enzo’s kitchen and watch him prepare his dishes. The restaurant is known for it’s fresh seafood and wonderful cuisine where he carefullyselects ingredients from the region, including bergamont from the southern part of Calabria. We’ll then dine at his restaurant for an exquisite dinner which is situated by the sea. Enzo our chef part owns an olive oil production called Podere Cascasi in the Vibo Valentia area. We can taste his olive oil and also if requested visit the premises for a guided tour.
Transport back to Tropea.
Day Three
Visit to the private vineyards of Francesco Rombola. Francesco has revived ancient vineyards which date back from the 13th century and produces ancient greek grapes some of which make for his wines which are receiving 5 stars within the wine industry. We will visit his vineyard and cantina and follow with a 3 course meal prepared by his wife and wine tasting in a fairy tale setting overlooking the vineyards and the coast of Calabria
Transport back to Tropea to unwind and enjoy the rest of the day at your own leisure. Evening guided walk in Tropea to learn about the history of the town. We’ll follow with a
prosecco in our favorite locale.

Day Four
Guided visit to a privately run nduja and salami production house with tastings included. We will take you step by step on how this famous nduja production is made. The town ofSpilinge, which is the birthplace of the nduja is where the production house is situated. We’ll show you the preparation of the chili pepper which plays an important role in the Nduja production. We’ll taste Nduja and other local salamis that are produced here with local wine. From there we’ll visit a beautiful viewing platform situated in Capo Vaticano and walk along a path to see magnificent views of the cape. The viewing area overlooks the beautiful Tyrrhenian sea and where on a clear day, you can see Stromboli, one of the volcanic islands of Sicily. We will then take you to a remote spot that overlooks the beautiful seas of Capo Vaticano and enjoy a specially prepared local calabrese picnic made by our local dear friend Rosanna.

Day Five
Cooking Class in the hills with Vera and Peppe
Today’s class will feature seafood, local vegetables and local pasta dishes
We will enjoy our farewell dinner under a canopy overlooking the hills and olive groves of the town situated in the olive and lemon- tree strewn hills minutes from Tropea, chef and local friend Peppe will treat you to an antipasto of locally produced cheeses, salamis and wine. You’ll stroll through his private farm to select seasonal fruits and vegetables for your cooking class and for a menu, which will also feature an array of local meat and vegetable dishes and ‘fileja’, the signature pasta of Tropea.
After your cooking class enjoy the fruits of your labour under their canopy. Local wine, dessert and homemade liqueurs included.
Day Six
This morning we will take you to a part of the beachfront of Tropea where you can enjoy a fresh seafood lunch and have access to the private beach of the premises. This has been a new find this year and it really is a lovely spot to enjoy the southern italian beach time.
The local restaurant is wonderful and serves the freshest seafood, wood brick oven pizzas and pasta dishes. We will provide deck chairs also so you can relax by the sea.
Day Seven
Farewell and transfer to Lamezia Terme airport or train station.
